Paddle the lower Potomac River on a fossil finding adventure! Millions of years ago, Virginia was covered in a shallow sea that was teeming with life, leaving behind prolific fossil beds. We'll ride down to the beach and then paddle upriver in search of shark teeth and other clues to the past.

Paddlers must be age 16+ for a solo kayak and age 8+ (with an adult) for tandem kayak. Wear clothes that can get wet and close-toed shoes. Meet at the visitor center to collect paddles and gear before riding down to the shore with the boats. Be prepared to help load and unload the kayaks at the beach before and after the paddle. Paid reservations are required as space is limited. Please call 540-663-3861 or stop by the visitor center to reserve your spot. Parking fee is $5.
