The marshes and wetlands of Mason Neck are home to many birds that live and thrive near the water. Species include herons, seagulls, osprey, and over a dozen species of ducks. This guided hike will help visitors identify the park's aquatic birds and learn more about their behavior and importance to the environment. Together, we'll explore the migration and the various bird species that migrate to and from Mason Neck, as well as the characteristics that distinguish waterfowl, wading birds, and birds that primarily eat fish.
Bay View Trail at Mason Neck State Park is a 1.06-mile natural surface trail that contains some uneven surfaces, stairs, and elevated walkways.
