Location of Sky Meadows State Park in Virginia

Where

Sky Meadows State Park, 11012 Edmonds Ln., Delaplane, VA 20144.
Sensory Explorers’ Trail

When

June 26, 2025. 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Bring your phone and take a walk on the Sensory  Explorers’ Trail with Alex Newhart, a Virginia Master Naturalist photographer.   Learn how to capture exceptional nature photographs using only your smartphone no matter which type of phone you use (Android or iPhone). Learn some of the basics of composition and lighting that will allow you to capture the golden blooms of summer, a zebra swallow tail butterfly on a native pawpaw tree, or the stunning red-headed woodpecker high up in the forest canopy.

Pull out that smartphone. Remember, the best camera is the one that you have with you.  And on a nature hike, that is often the camera that fits in your pocket.  It is time to learn its versatility and power.

For more information on the Virginia Master Naturalists please visit their website.

The Sensory Explorers' Trail is open for self-guided walks daily for people of all ages and has adaptations for the blind and visually impaired.
