Fireflies aren't the only species that glow at night.
Did you know several plant and animal species glow under black light? Examples include flying squirrels and the Jack-O-Lantern fungi. During this program, we'll uncover the important role of bioluminescence in nature. We'll also explore a few trails and the riverbank to see what else glows under a black light! Please be prepared to hike up to 2 miles on various terrain. All ages are welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Limited black lights will be available, so we recommend bringing your own. We also recommend bringing a flashlight or headlamp.
To register, please email megan.goin@dcr.virginia.gov.
