RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia State Parks invites engaged couples to exchange vows at one of its scenic venues. From rustic lodges and charming historic sites to breathtaking vistas and serene waterfront locations, the park system offers something to fit every couple’s vision and guest list.
In addition to spaces for rehearsal dinners, ceremonies and receptions, state parks provide convenient amenities such as overnight accommodations, family-friendly educational programs and access to hiking, biking and equestrian trails, making them great options for destination weddings.
"Our state parks offer beautiful backdrops for couples looking to celebrate their love surrounded by nature,” said Virginia State Parks Director Dr. Melissa Baker. “Whether you envision an intimate ceremony in the woods or a large celebration with panoramic views, our parks provide unique and unforgettable settings for your special day.”
To assist couples with planning, Virginia State Parks created an online resource guide, which can be found at www.virginiastateparks.gov/weddings. It includes a detailed list of indoor, outdoor and large venues, vendor recommendations and wedding package information.
Venues and overnight accommodations can be reserved up to 11 months in advance. To schedule a tour of an event space, couples should go to www.virginiastateparks.gov/find-a-park and contact that park directly.
