Hurricane Helene Resources

For Farmers

For emergency relief funding, farmers should contact their local USDA Farm Service Agency office to see if they are eligible for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP). Once you have applied for ECP, contact your local Soil and Water Conservation District.

USDA Low-Interest Physical Loss Loans

To file a Notice of Loss or to ask questions about available programs, contact your local  USDA Service Center.

Albemarle, Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Bedford, Bland, Botetourt, Buchanan, Carroll, Craig, Dickenson, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Greene, Lee, Madison, Montgomery, Nelson, Page, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockingham, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:
Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Halifax, Henry, Highland, Louisa, Orange, Rappahannock, Rockbridge, Shenandoah, Warren, Bristol, Charlottesville, Covington, Danville, Galax, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Norton, Radford, Roanoke, Salem, Staunton and Waynesboro

Planting Date Extensions

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Board have authorized Soil and Water Conservation District Boards in the counties listed below to provide planting date extensions of up to 14 days for the following cover crop practices: SL-8B, SL-8, SL-8A, SL-8H, SL-8M, NM-7, WFA-CC, and WQ-4. 

  • Bedford, Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Craig, Dickenson, Giles, Grayson, Montgomery, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe Counties and the independent Cities of Bristol, Covington, Danville, Galax, Norton, and Radford.

Floodplain Administrators

Disaster Recovery Relief Act (DRRA) Section 1206
Additional funds available to communities within the Disaster Declaration for “building code and floodplain administration and enforcement, including inspections for substantial damage compliance and base and overtime wages for extra hires to facilitate the implementation and enforcement of adopted building codes for a period of not more than 180 days after the major disaster is declared.”
