Status of Flood Resilience Report
One of the duties of the Commonwealth’s Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) is to develop a biennial report on the status of flood resilience in Virginia. This report to the Governor and the General Assembly, as established in § 2.2-220.5 of the Code of Virginia, shall:
- Serve as an evaluation of flood protection for critical infrastructure, including human and natural infrastructure.
- Identify risks to critical transportation, energy, communication, water and food supply, waste management, health, and emergency services infrastructure.
- Records of flood damages
- Include the status of flood resilience planning.
The first Status of Flood Resilience Report was published in 2023 and establishes a framework for evaluating the flood risk and resilience of critical built, natural and human infrastructure in partnership with key state agencies. It also evaluates progress toward achieving the goals established in the Coastal Resilience Master Planning Framework.
