For a custom list of invasive plants, use the second form. All of the second form's fields are optional, but choose at least a region. Click here or on the map to find your region. Mountain, Piedmont and Coastal Plain are the regions delineated for this search tool. The regions generally have different soils, elevation, hydrology and climate, so the plants in each are generally different. Bear in mind that counties along boundaries may fall within two regions. For specific information about regions, visit the Virginia Natural Community overview. Choose from the light conditions based on the general amount of sunlight your site of concern receives. Soil moisture conditions choices are xeric (dry), mesic (moderate), and hydric (wet or wetland soil).
The invasiveness rank is the result of a risk assessment process that analyzes the level of negative impact a species may have on natural forests, grasslands, and wetlands.
